Division III change of plans

My son says he wants to fight like Daddy. This means I need to make him a fighting jack that pass the minimum armor requirements for the Youth Boffer division. “Armor: Non-Metal” is in Division III, so I will not be making the prie-dieu for this year’s A&S, I am shuffling it to next year when I will have time over the summer to play with wood and hand tools. I’m sure it will be disappointing to Master Charles that the prie-dieu is not my entry this year, but it is still in the queue.

The new plan for Division III is cloth armor for Youth Boffer. I have an A&S entry and Gunther gets to start fighting like Daddy. I love when I kill two birds with one stone. Too bad I can’t kill three birds with one stone: Gunther gets to fight, cloth armor and children’s costuming but that it probably asking for too much.

I have been kicking around entering the Middle Kingdom A&S pentathlon for a couple years.  I have planned and plotted and generally spun my wheels.  This year I’m doing it, because I finally have ideas for my weak categories that I can actually complete and won’t look like crap.

The plan so far:

Division I: Performing Arts and Letters
Bardic Recitation–Something from Le Morte D’Arthur or some other 15th C poetry, in the original language, if possible.

Division II: Textile and Needle Arts
Costume: Children (I know you could fall over from the shock)
Costume: 1451-1600 c.e. –full late 15th C outfit from the chemise to the overgown, sans accessories (again, you could fall over from the shock)

Division III: Technological Sciences
Wood Construction – Joinery — Prie-dieu

Division IV: Studio Arts and Sciences
Miscellaneous Studio Arts and Sciences–paternoster

Division V: Domestic Arts and Sciences
Cooking–I haven’t decided between single or multiple dishes
Miscellaneous Domestic Arts and Sciences–dolls
